008, or "Working off the pie"

I've decided to take up jogging for the summer! I enjoyed myself a lot when I went for a jog with Yuna the other day, but it made me come to terms with how out of shape I really am. I mean, sure I walk a lot, which has probably kept me from getting fat (knowing how often I cook and bake, it's really amazing that I've kept my figure), but now that summer's here, I wont be walking to classes at Balamb anymore. So, with all that in mind, I've resolved to go for a jog at least twice a week for the summer.

I started last week! If anyone wants to join me some time, I like to go in the morning before work (like, around 6) at Neverland Park.

Speaking of work, I've been upgraded to full time for the summer. I receive an allowance from a trust fund my father set up for me when I was born (one thing my step-mother hadn't gotten a hold of, though I wont even have access to the whole thing till I get married. Seems a bit archaic, no?), but even with that, after rent and student loans I don't have a whole lot left over. Working full time over the summer will let me at least save some money. For what? I don't really know. I have something in mind though..

/private to Ariel/
Ariel, do you really think if I had a bakery that people would buy what I bake? That's kind of what I'm saving my money for, because I've been thinking about it a lot, and I think it would be really fun. What do you think?

008, or "Let the summer begin!"

Phew! My finals are over, and I really don't think I did half bad. Now that it's summer, my boss at Towne Hall is letting me work more hours temporarily. I'm thinking about getting a night time job too, since I'll only be getting a few more daytime hours. I only ever work until 5 in the afternoon, which leaves plenty of extra time for another job, at least until classes get started again in the fall. Anyone happen to know if any places are hiring for evenings/nights? Any reputable places, that is.

I recently had a good friend over for a baking lesson, and aside from having a blast, it kind inspired me to start trying new things again. I'm working on a few different recipes right now, and I hope to have something edible by the end of the week.

I am lucky enough that my tiny balcony faces the sunrise. I will regret having to work nights this summer only because I probably wont be able to rise early enough to watch the sun come up while having my coffee.

007, or "(not) Dreaming under the Oak"

I missed a whole class last week. You see, I had some free time in between two of my classes, and since it was so beautiful outside, I decided to go for a walk. I sat down underneath this large oak tree by the quad to do some people watching. I just love people watching! Anyway, I must have drifted off, because the next thing I knew, there were some boys kicking around a soccer ball, and it brushed really close to me. It didn't hit me, but I guess it woke me up. But I looked at my watch and it was almost time for me to be at work! I must have been dozing for over an hour. How terribly embarrassing!

Anyway, I managed to get the assignment from a classmate, so I guess it's not a big deal. Still, I do feel awfully silly!

006, or "Did someone say Pie?"

I got to do some transcription yesterday at work! Of course, that isn't interesting, but it's a break from the normal paperwork filing. The Lt. Mayor's secretary was out sick today (as were a few other office ladies; something seems to be going around! I sure do hope I don't catch it), so he had me doing extra work!

The De Beaumont's party was a real blast. I felt a bit out of place at first (it was so very fancy!), but then I ran into Yuna and had a lot of fun from then on in.

Mr. Valentine finally let me bring him some pie, which I offered forever-ago when he saved my life from that thug who viciously attacked me. I made him a blueberry pie, and I sure do hope he liked it! I love baking so much. Sometimes I wonder if I shouldn't open a bakery. I'm sure I'm not that good at it though.

The weather's going to be beautiful this weekend, I just know it! I think I shall go to the park.

005, or A Star is Born! (an extra is made?)

How amazing!!

I'm in the musical! I can't believe it! It says I'm an extra, so I guess I don't say anything, but I suppose I wouldn't be lying if I said I like it better that way. I'm still so floored by this; I will get to be a part of what I know will be a most amazing production.

Also, I've been invited to a party! I'm very excited, I've never been invited to something so classy! It's being thrown by that Gaston's family. I don't really know him, but he seems popular so he must be very nice. I hope I have something nice enough to wear. It's rent week, so I wont be buying a new dress, that's for sure.

I sure do hope I wont be the only one going solo though. That would be so awkward!

004, or "Never carry an umbrella in Twilight"

I do enjoy having new experiences, and this week it was in the theater. I've never been on stage before, and it was very thrilling, even though it was only in front of one person. Professor Baku's requests were not at all what I expected, though I guess I wouldn't really know in the first place.

Anyway, he was very nice! I've heard tell that he can be somewhat, erm, discourteous, but those claims seem to be entirely unfounded. I rather liked the old man.

Of course, I don't expect to win a role in the show. Everyone there was so marvelously talented! I can't wait till it's all ready, I just know it will be a wonderful production! Even if the subject matter is so violent.

It rained this afternoon, unexpectedly. Of course, today was the day that I left my bus pass at home (I could have gone back for it in between classes and work, but the sky seemed so clear I figured it would be a beautiful day for a stroll through the park). When I got out of work, the clouds were dark, and as I crossed over into the park, the sky opened up and it simply poured. At first I was discouraged, but being so warm it actually felt rather nice. It hardly ever rains like that in Twilight, so the experience was rather novel.

The park smells so wonderful when it rains.

By the time I got to the apartment building, I was positively sopping wet. It was very uncomfortable when I got inside, but you know when you're that uncomfortable, it's only that much more wonderful when you get right into a pair of fleecey pyjamas and settle down with a mug of hot chocolate and a good read. Margaret and Fluffy both curled up next to me as well, and it was all very cozy.

003, or, just try to take my stuff again!

The past few days have been pretty eventful. I got mugged (!), but I met a really cool night-cop who got my purse back for me and was sweet enough to walk me home. Thank you, again, Vincent!

People have told me before not to go out alone at night, and nothing bad had ever happened to me, but now I know a little better. I refuse to be afraid of whatever's behind every corner, or your typical damsel in distress, but I'll remember now to at least be more aware of my surroundings. Also, I bought a can of pepper spray! Just try and mug me again, you cad.

I've been doing better in my classes. I had a test in Microbiology last week and got an A! It's still a snooze class, of course, but I think this merits a reward. Preferably something large and chocolate. Oh, and Melody and her eggs are still doing just fine, in case you were wondering.

There has been a recall on my brand of unscented sunscreen. I don't know why yet but I'll have to find out. Anyway, very soon I'm going to start smelling a lot like a coconut. I hope this doesn't last too long.

002, or "New Life on the Window Sill"

Do you know that feeling you get when you know you've forgotten something, but you just can't think of what it is? I left work this afternoon with that feeling. I made it all the way home, got ready to do my homework, and then I realized that having gone straight to work from class, I'd forgotten my book bag at work.

I can't believe I did that! I'm doing bad enough in my classes as it is, and now I'm going to miss a night of homework. Maybe I'll be "sick" tomorrow, and just get the notes from someone in my class. Oh, my.

Ok, I'm done fretting about this. No one wants to read about my mistakes. Instead, I'll tell you all about something wonderful that happened today. When I got to my Microbiology class (eugh), there were some eggs in the finch's nest! I've named the finch Melody, since she likes to sing outside the window. I'm so excited for her to be a mother!

I guess my day wasn't such a downer after all.

It was a really beautiful day today. However, it's a shame that I spent the best hours of the day in classes. In Microbiology (which, by the way, I'm already doing poorly in), I noticed that outside the window a little finch had built a nest. She was the cutest little bird, and I can't wait until she lays some eggs and hatches them. At least that's one good thing to look forward to in that horrible class.

The sun was very bright today. I like it like that, but I'm afraid the drug store doesn't carry SPF 50 in economy size anymore. Bother.

I really should own stock in Coppertone.
